Cuba - Part 4

~12/27/2011~

We started the day by going to my mom's friend's house in Santa Amalia. The house was (very sadly) falling apart. Things were breaking, there were bugs everywhere, it was dirty. I felt really, really bad :'( But it was good for my mom to see her old childhood friend; she hadn't been to Cuba in over 30 years since she left in 1980.

Then, we went to the famous Coppelia that everyone raves about for having the most amazing ice cream. There were five ice cream flavors available (because they aren't all always available); it's kind of a "hope you get lucky and they have the flavor you want" kind of thing. I ended up getting two scoops - one vanilla and one chocolate. It was good but honestly, I liked the ice cream from BimBom SO much better!

After enjoying some ice cream, we walked towards the hotel La Habana Libre which was beautiful but again, no toilet paper nor soap in the restrooms. ha. We kept walking towards El Malecon. We came across an artisan market. We also came across a few street vendors. My sister was going nutso buying stuff from them! lmao.

Right across from El Malecon was a BimBom and of course, we had to stop there. My sister and Julito ate hot dogs; I tried the almond ice cream. Yummmm. It was very good! It was pretty funny because this time, I came prepared with toilet paper! lol. And thank goodness that I did because I had to use the restroom.

Then, we finally made it to El Malecon which yes, had a nice view but personally, I didn't think it was all that people make it out to seem. That's just me though.

We had dinner at my mom's cousin's house again which was nice and my cousins did a little dancing <3(:

It started raining at night and even though we had planned to go to the club Submarino Amarillo, we decided to just stay home for which I was glad because I was exhausteeeeeeddddd from all the walking we did that day.
